The following entry guidelines are a work in progress and they may change until the official anouncement in 2027.
Brush Masters is designed to recognise exceptional hobby-focused players within the community and bring them together for a painting competition held alongside Masters. Instead of earning points or Golden Tickets, competing in Brush Masters requires a qualification coin (see explanation below on how to obtain one).
Qualified players must present three characters, one for each base size category.
The event will be judged by an external judge, with a strong focus on painting technique and use of colour. If there is sufficient interest, a Best Modelling/Conversion Award may also be introduced.
The overall winner will be the participant who demonstrates excellence across all three base categories.
All entries must consist of miniatures produced for Marvel: Crisis Protocol.
No 3D-printed models are allowed. While this may not suit everyone, the aim is to promote a fair competition where all participants have equal opportunities. 3D models can vary significantly in detail and may offer advantages in ease of painting compared to official miniatures.
Entries must represent officially released characters from Marvel: Crisis Protocol. Any releases within one week prior to the event are not eligible.
Conversions are allowed, provided the majority of the model consists of official Marvel: Crisis Protocol parts.
Conversions must be made entirely from Marvel: Crisis Protocol components and/or scratch-built elements.
Conversions must remain within the Marvel: Crisis Protocol narrative.
Bases may be personalised without restriction; however, please note that basing, additions, or conversions will not influence judging outcomes.
Entries may not include intellectual property from other licences.
Display boards are not permitted.
Each participant may submit one entry only (three models total).
Throughout the yearly season, players can earn invitation coins at events to qualify for Brush Masters.
Each qualifying event will feature four categories:
Team
Small Base
Medium Base
Large Base
Judging will be at the Tournament Organiser’s discretion and may involve player voting, independent judges, online voting, or other methods. These qualifier categories may be separate from the event’s painting competition (if one is held).
Prize support for qualifiers is optional and at the TO’s discretion; however, VMH will provide trophies.
The winner of each category will receive a Brush Masters coin, granting entry to the main event.
A player may win coins at multiple events.
Each qualifying entry must be a new model.
The same model may not be entered twice to earn a coin.
Players may attempt qualification as many times as they wish.
Regardless of the number of coins earned, each player may only submit one final entry (three models) to Brush Masters.
Important Notes on Qualifiers
As stated above, qualifiers may be separate from an event’s painting competition. The rules for earning a Brush Masters entry coin follow the same guidelines as the December Brush Masters event.
If a Tournament Organiser chooses to merge their event’s painting competition with the Brush Masters Qualifier, and the event allows 3D-printed models, but the Best Painted award is won by a 3D-printed entry, the Brush Masters coin will instead be awarded to the highest-placed eligible entry that adheres to the Brush Masters guidelines.
